How to Play the Dulcimer

The dulcimer is a three or four-stringed instrument. Hold on your lap and strum across the strings with your right hand and play the melody by holding down frets on your left hand.

No musical training or background is needed to learn this instrument. You just need to be able to “count to 10” and strum in rhythm. Players read tablature numbers which correspond to the music notes and fret numbers to play a tune on the melody string..

Later, musical notes, other simple muslical terms and chords are introduced.

The dulcimer is generally considered to be much easier to play than a guitar.

The dulcimer is a relaxing and soothing musical instrument to play….give it a try.
